Botanical Research Update in Women’s Health

Dr. Hudson will be reviewing selected research studies in gynecology and primary care for women from 2012 and 2013. She will go into detail about the following botanicals: red clover, turmeric, ginger, green tea, black cohosh, chaste tree and more to be determined based on new research between now and October 2013.

Participants at this lecture will learn how to:

  • Be familiar with and current in research in botanical medicine as it relates to gynecology and primary care for women.

  • Analyze and assess appropriate utilization of select botanicals for these conditions.

  • Evaluate the potential benefits and limitations of the indications for these products.

  • Review possible side effects or contraindications for select botanicals.

  • Use the botanicals discussed in clinical practice for the conditions presented.

Presenter Bio

Dr. Tori Hudson, Naturopathic Physician, graduated from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in 1984 and has served the college in several capacities, including: Medical Director, Associate Academic Dean, and Academic Dean. She is currently a clinical professor at The National College of Naturopathic Medicine, Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and Bastyr University. Dr Hudson has been in practice for 28 years, is the medical director of her clinic, “A Woman’s Time” in Portland, Oregon, and director of product research and education for VITANICA.

Dr. Hudson was awarded the 1990 President’s award from the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians for her research in women’s health, the 1999 prestigious Naturopathic Physician of the Year award, the 2003 NCNM Alumni Pioneer Award, the 2009 Natural Products Association Pioneer Award and in 2012 was inducted into the NCNM Hall of Fame.

She is a nationally recognized author of "Women’s Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine,"  speaker, educator, researcher, and clinician.  Dr. Hudson serves on several editorial boards, advisory panels and as a consultant to the natural products industry.
