This class will show the basics of making nourishing broths you can use as the foundation for soups, main dishes and tasty stock for grains dishes.
In this class, we will be doing two quick broths: a vegetable broth and a fish broth. Then we will make two different dishes using these broths and eat them together–yum!
Enjoy a sensual evening with various herbs and spices while preparing homemade broths and nourishing yourself with healing foods.
Linda Colwell, a native Oregonian, received her culinary training at La Varenne in Paris, France. In 2005, she opened The Abernethy Kitchen, a USDA school lunch program for Portland Public Schools. She is the founder of the Garden of Wonders, a school garden education project in Portland,Oregon. These seminal projects have changed the way school districts source and prepare food for school lunches and teach children how food grows. Since 2006, Linda has developed Eat Think Grow, a community of partnered organizations that support Portland Public Schools in meeting it’s Wellness Policy through Farm to School and School Garden Education.
Linda believes in building students' knowledge and comfort in the kitchen through technique and taste. Her "Nourishing Broths" class is a foundational class for all budding chefs.
